Description
Written for the Southeastern Conference Band Directors Association, Dan Welcher’s Glacier is the fourth composition in his series inspired by national parks in the American West (following The Yellowstone Fires, Arches and Zion). The feeling of icy stillness permeates the piece’s opening, and as percussive, brittle motives enter, a sense of warming eventually melts the ice and brings new life, only to be frozen over once again as the glaciers prevail. For advanced players. Duration: 10′
