The source is accurate and we have retained De Fossa’s original fingering. A critical commentary is included. Rossini must have like particularly liked this work as he used this overture not only for Elisabetta, but also for the Barber of Seville and Aureliano in Palmira. Great fun to play and a good mood-setter or closer!
