Description
The opening of this composition starts with a bit of dissonance and quickly moves to more traditional harmonies. It is not a hard dissonant work. The main idea of this composition for the teacher is to drill in the dotted quarter/eighth note rhythm. Everyone plays this rhythm many times. It has contrasting melodies and plays in both major and minor modes. 1st trumpet’s highest note is D. Only the 1st clarinets play above the break.
