Description
This string trio is part of an original which Mozart composed in Vienna in 1788 for his friend and brother mason Michael Puchberg, who had helped him out of certain difficulties. The exposition is fully developed and followed by another 9 bars. Presumably Mozart postponed further compository work for the sake of the Divertimento KV 563 listed straight after this one in the “Köchelverzeichnis.” The edition presented here – which includes the exposition – is based on the handwritten copy made by A. Fuchs in 1840 and which is kept in the archives of the State Library in Berlin.
