Description
Niccol? Paganini (1782 – 1840), the world-famous violin virtuoso, was also an outstanding guitarist. His numerous compositions for violin and guitar manifest his love for both instruments. The Six Sonatas op. 2 were presumably composed between 1805 and 1809 and were published for the first time in 1820. The melodic lines we encounter throughout these sonatas are reminiscent of the tradition of Italian singing. For many years now, the edition by Erwin Schwarz-Reiflingen (ZZM 11930) has been part of the standard repertoire for violin and guitar. Progressive research and new editorial standards caused the publishing company to create a new edition in which the notation was redone – but always bearing in mind Paganini’s original notation.
