Description
Johann Joachim Quantz (1679-1773), oboe player, flutist and composer, has above all become famous for being Frederick the Great’s flute instructor. Apart from that, his work “Attempt to teach how to play the flute traversi?re” has become not only a standard repertoire for flute literature but also an important document which shows how music was practised in former times. The edition presented here which replaces the old edition with the number ZM 10950 is based on the contemporary handwritten solo part kept at the Saxon State Library in Dresden. The realisation of the basso continuo – according to the figured bass – was done by the editor.
