The tune "Lyons" first appeared in "Gardner’s Sacred Melodies" published in London in 1815.  It is attributed to Franz Josef Haydn’s younger brother, Michael, since a number of pieces by both composers begin with this opening phrase.  Today, the tune is found in hymnals worldwide with a variety of texts.  An excellent ensemble for contest, concert, and worship.  OMEA Class C
