Brunnen by Carola Baukholt is an 18-minute work for solo cello and orchestra. The piece was written as part of the poet Jean Paul’s anniversary in 2013. The sound of a well (German: Brunnen) forms the starting point as a symbol of the Franconian idyll in which the poet grew up. The premiere took place on 12 September 2013 at the festival Klangspuren Schwaz (Austria), with the Tyrolean Symphony Orchestra conducted by Johannes Kalitzke. The full score (EP 14537) is available for sale as part of the Peters Contemporary Library. The performance material can be hired.
