Description
Fiorillo’s 36 Caprices or Etudes rank equally high as the famous studies of Kreutzer and Rode and contain exercising material of unusual artistic importance. While, in many ways, they do not contain the strict methodic form of Kreutzer’s famous studies, they are equally indispensable, owing to the more detailed and extended treatment of double-stopping and arpeggio bowing. Fiorillo’s studies, as a rule, are of a very melodious character: they impart surety and firmness in the higher positions, freedom and ease in double-stopping, and as regards to tone— help develop a smoother and more flexible quality.
