Written for advanced level players and inspired from African rhythms, the three first compositions can be played each after the other or separately. The five pieces are: Balafon Ambira Akadinda Generalife Pretexte The names of these 5 pieces for Marimba, Vol.4 were given after different African instruments of wooden blades that can be found in various places. While Pretexte is quite jazzy with its strong beat, Generalife is more dynamic and should be played with more energy and character. Emmanuel Séjourné (born in 1961) is a French percussionist and composer, who was strongly influenced by Western music and popular music. He wrote a series of books for percussionists including ‘Keyboard and Percussions, Vol. 1’.”
