Description
Max Kowalski (1882-1956) was born in Kowal in Poland (then Russia), but grew up in Frankfurt/Main. He studied law and graduated. He also studied singing and composition. Until 1938 he worked as a lawyer and was an authority in the field of copyright law, among others he represented Arnold Schönberg in a lawsuit. Besides, he devoted himself to composing song cycles. The Klabund poems appeared 1931. The texts by Klabund always have a bitter side, even if they begin romantic. And so is the composition by Kowalski.
