Description
A solemn piece with the German melodies “Christ ist erschienen” (“Christ appeared”), “Silent Night” and “Am Weihnachtsbaum die Lichter brennen” (“On Christmas the lights burning”). From these musical quotations and impressive transitions, Franz Morten composed a programmatic piece that begins after the introduction with a dream at Christmas time and ends with the morning of Christmas Day in pianissimo, while the bells call for Christmas mass.
