Description
Leroy Anderson, ever-popular in the concert hall for his light orchestral pieces, found a great musical ally in the Boston Pops Orchestra under its director, Arthur Fiedler. Premiering many of his works, they introduced to the world such gems as Sleigh Ride, Jazz Pizzicato, and The Syncopated Clock. Composed in 1954, Alma Mater is a suite for orchestra, offering four different slices of the college experience: 1. Chapel Bells 2. Freshman on Main Street 3. Library Reading Room 4. Class Reunion. This transcription for band was published in 1956.
