Description
Peter Ilyitch Tchaikovsky’s String Quartet No. 1 in D, Op. 11, was originally written in 1871. The standout melancholic second movement, Andante cantabile (Bb major), based on a folk song whistled by a house painter at the composer’s sister’s house, was arranged for cello and string orchestra in 1888. This reduction for cello and piano has been edited by famed cellist Emilio Col�n.
