This unique collection features a variety of hymns arranged as piano solos, useful for accomplished church pianists, performers, or students. The infusion of classical styles into hymn arrangements brings a new sparkle to standard hymns which may have lost some of their luster through the years of use. Likewise, the introduction of classical music into the worship milieu can infuse freshness into the liturgy. Titles include Abide with Me (in the setting of Beethoven’s Pathetique Sonata No. 8); Alas, and Did My Savior Bleed (in the setting of Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, 18th Variation); and a rare arrangement of Brightest and Best (in the general style of Franz Schubert).
