Originally a commission from the Grand Rapids Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, this festive concertato setting of the timeless hymn “Come, Christians, Join to Sing” includes stately fanfares in the brass quartet parts, while timpani and organ provide a sturdy foundation for the congregation on Stanzas 1 and 3. The choir is featured on Stanza 2 with the hymn melody assigned to the tenor voice while the remaining three choral parts contribute to a fresh new harmonic treatment of the hymn. This regal setting will enrich any worship service based on themes of singing or praise.
