Description

The four pieces on the theme of the night with the title “Flattering Night Thoughts” are fantasies – both literally and musically. They can be played either separately or in sequence. The titles of the four pieces are “Juggling Moths”, “Cobweb Threads”, “Dream Catcher” and “Haunted Merry-go-round”. “Juggling Moths” and “Dream Catcher” were originally conceived for alto flute which increases the tension between the individual movements; but they can also be played on the flute. The poem “Flattering Night Thoughts” written by the composer precedes the pieces. As her other works, she uses new playing techniques which quite nicely highlight the respective moods. The level of difficulty is upper medium.
