Description

Whenever string quartets come together, they are often faced with the same problem: “What shall we begin with?” and – above all : “How to begin?”. Often, first attempts fail because the pieces chosen are too difficult and beyond the players’ capabilities. During rehearsals, the pieces are just played over and over again, which is anything but effective. This volume is an answer to the questions “what with?” and “how?” by offering arrangements of pieces by Bach, Tchaikovski and others which are short and not too difficult. In many cases, they are preceded by helpful hints as to listening and practicing (in English and German). This tutor is intended both for chamber music lessons at conservatories and for individual musicians who want to play in an ensemble of like-minded musicians. Ensembles may also use it for warming-up exercises.
