Description
The instrumentation is based on soprano voice, flute and orchestra or piano, and represents one of the most famous orchestrations in the history of the opera. Complex situations can be illustrated particularly well if one uses voice and flute in a kind of musical contest that creates a direct link between the virtuosity of voice/instrument and the emotional “charge” of a particular scene. This work is a beautiful example for the close relation between lyric vocals and instrumental melodic expression. This issue is a first print based on the manuscript kept at the National Library in Paris. The user benefits both from the original reading and the editor’s arrangement.
