Description

Iberia was originally a suite for piano composed by Isaac Albniz (1860-1909) between 1905 to 1909, published in four books comprised of 3 movements each. Albniz wrote these in an impressionistic style to evoke Spain. After Albniz attempted to arrange the pieces for orchestra, he became impatient and enlisted his friend and conductor Enrique Fernndez Arbs to do the arrangement. Arbs arranged five of the pieces: Evocation (Evocacin), Fte-dieu Sville, Triana, El Puerto and El Albaicn. Evocation combines elements of the southern Spanish fandango and the northern Spanish jota song forms. It is one of three that were recorded by Arbs in 1928.
