Description
The short blossom period of the cherry tree symbolizes in an ideal way beauty and transitoriness. In this work, the composer connects traditional Japanese music, namely the famous SAKURA, a Japanese song of cherry blossom, with music from the West (B-A-C-H motif). Even in his instrumentation he tries to unite the European-oriented sextet and the “bamboo-like” sound of the piccolo flutes – a combination which has a special attraction.
