Description
From Papagena Press, we have a work for bassoon with piano from Katherine Hoover. Commissioned by a consortium of bassoonists organized by bassoon virtuoso Peter Kolkay, to whom the piece is dedicated. The jazz-tinged Journey reflects its name, beginning with an inward, thoughtful first movement, progressing to a playful conversation between the two voices in the second movement, and ending with an intense, reflective third movement. Journey was premiered in October of 2009 by Kolkay and pianist Alexandra Nguyen in Panama City, Panama. For advanced players.
