Description

Carl Emil Paul Lincke (1866-1946) served as a composer and theater conductor. Thought of as the “father” of the Berlin operetta, he was best known for his operetta Frau Luna, though his Berliner Luft (Berlin Air) remains the unofficial anthem of Berlin, and The Glow-Worm from his operetta Lysistrata was later famously adapted by Johnny Mercer. His Kwang Hs (Chinese March), while not well-known, is a solid march in the style of the early 20th century, and it is perfect for a program in need of a short work or something with which audiences may not already be familiar. Instrumentation: 1.1.2.1: 2.2.1.0: Perc(2-3): Str (9-8-7-6-5 in set).
