LAUDA JERUSALEM is one of three settings of the 147th Psalm made by Porpora for the girls at the Conservatorio dell’ Ospedaletto at Venice. It was composed in 1745 duing one of his various sojourns in Venice as director of the “Ospedali della Pieta” and “Conservatorio degli Incurabili,” where he wrote specifically for the girl inmates of these famous Venetian orphanages. This edition by Ralph Hunter is for SSAA chorus and either string orchestra or organ/piano accompaniment. The choral octavo is available from Hal Leonard.
