Description
A Kelpie is a Scottish mythical creature often seen in the shape of a horse. It is a shape shifter that can change forms. It is a legend often told to keep young children away from the lakes and rivers. The composition starts slowly in a minor key, moving to the middle section in major with a faster tempo and easy syncopation, returning to minor and the slower tempo. This is ideal for teaching students to learn to listen to each other and know when to bring out the melody. The 1st trumpet’s highest note is F. The 1st and 2nd clarinets play above the break while the 3rd clarinets do not.
