Description
Tarik O’Regan’s Concerto for Soprano Saxophone and String Orchestra “Machine” was commissioned by the Presteigne Festival in Wales where it was first performed by saxophonist Amy Dickson and the Presteigne Festival Orchestra conducted by George Vass in 2022. The piece is around 22 minutes in duration and comprises three movements which are linked by interludes for chamber forces. A solo cadenza, heard in full in the work’s final movement, contains all the melodic material from which the concerto is derived.
