Description

Marimbana was composed in 1992 for the Brazilian Ney Rosauro. The concert piece consisting of three movements requires some technical skills from the solo player. The first movement “flowing” symbolizes an “African” perpetual motion due to its constant quaver figures. The second movement “pulsating” is characterized by a repeated major second (eb/f). The third one (faltering) is structured as a rondo. The composition was recorded on CD (Thorofon CTH 233) : “Peter Sadlo & Ensemble play works for percussion of Bertold Hummel”.
