This work was written in 1995 for and dedicated to Thomas Keemss and the ensemble TRI PERCUSSION. 29 categories of instruments and 71 individual instruments are being used. The piece consists of three overlapping parts; its composition is dense and contrapuntal and is quite demanding for professional percussion ensembles. Ruth Zechlin, born in 1926, is one of the most popular contemporary composers. She received numerous awards, the Bundesverdienstkreuz among others in 1997 and the Bavarian Maximiliansorden in 2001 for science and arts. Her catalogue of works comprises solo pieces for various instruments, songs, chamber music and compositions for orchestras, operas and ballets.
