Description

With the exception of the third piece, the subdued and contemplative ‘Winter dreams’, the movements of the Musica Vespertina belong to the genre of cheerful-humorous music. For example, the merry and light-hearted piece ‘Ludus Jucundus’. The subsequent ‘March parody’ is of slightly sarcastic-burlesque character. The ‘Clownerie’ can be played in a witty, boisterous and accented manner, while the ‘Intermezzo’ is a lively and athmospheric piece with a multitude of timbres. The ‘Capriccio piccolo’, which concludes the cycle, is basically a ‘puzzle’, the main and transitional motifs of which could have been related to each other in any other order, too.
