Description
Boomwhackers are colorful plastic pipes. With a goodly portion of beating impulse, one slaps either the free hand or the theigh, thus releasing the amusing boom from the pipe. In the last years this perfectly simple instrument made a triumphal procession through the music and rhythm schools. They are available in pentatonic, diatonic or chromatic tuning. Pent-a-ton is written for a setting of pentatonic boomwhackers and wants to make these instruments socially acceptable in concerts. The special attraction of the pieces lies in tne rhythmical development. The CD can give an idea of the sound but should not be taken as an absolut must and should not limit the players’ interpretation. When different sounds are wanted, it is also possible to use tomtoms, bongos, congas and/or mallet instruments.
