Description

Pour les fun�railles d�un soldat (For the Funeral of a Soldier) was written by a then nineteen-year-old Lili Boulanger (1893-1918). Her first surviving choral work, it sets to music text from a section of a poem by Louis Charles Alfred de Musset called, “La Couple et le Levres” (The Cup and the Lips). Boulanger sketched her setting to music on August 17, 1912, completing the orchestral score in January of 1913. It was premiered on November 7, 1915 at the Concerts Colonne-Lamoureux, Gabriel Piern� conducting.
