Description
French composer and organist Charles-Marie Widor (1844-1937) composed this powerful work for Brass, Organ, and Timpani in 1916 as his Opus 84. Titled SALVUM FAC POPULUM TUUM, which is alternately known as LORD, SAVE THY PEOPLE in English, was written for an Armistice service at Notre Dame Cathedral. While the work begins as a dark, foreboding march, the brilliant fanfare at the conclusion is breathtaking. Instrumentation: Three Trumpets, Three Trombones, Timpani and Organ.
