Description
With the classic instrumentation of the three instruments used, the composer intends to come close to the 19th century language of music and thus to the original version. According to the composer, the harlequin represents the two counterparts “melancholic” and “cheerful” – the basic idea of his work. The free introduction plus the main theme, changed in instrumentation, evokes melancholic feelings whereas the cheerful element is created by the 2nd variation of piano paraphrases.
