Description

Joseph Bodin de Boismortier (1689-1755) was the most successful freelance composer in France during the first half of the 18th century, with over a hundred published opuses appearing during his lifetime. The “six sonates” for flute and obbligato harpsichord, op. 91, are among the most celebrated works to appear in Paris in the wake of Rameau’s 1741 publication of his Pi?ces de claveçin en concerts. Douglas Worthen and Ursula Dütschler provide exemplary performances of these little-known masterworks.
