Guitar 1, Guitar 2Johann Schenk

Description

Johann Schenk (1656- ~1715) was a Dutch composer and gamba player. The sonata presented here, which was originally composed for two gambas, can also be performed by two guitars as it was not written in a style characteristic for strings. As far as technique is concerned, it is quite easy to play – but yet demanding from a musical point of view. Thus it is well-suited to be used for auditions or competitions held especially for young musicians (“Jugend musiziert”). This edition is part of the series STEP BY STEP which contains extensive comments as well as remarks on performance practice.
