Gabriel FauréPiano, Flute

Description

In 1876, Gabriel-Urbain Fauré’s first violin sonata was published as op.13, a work modelled on the classical sonata form and featuring fiery and spirited melodies, rhythmical finesse and great verve. It is a pity that G. Fauré was only rarely inspired to write for the flute – his Fantasia op.79 (1898) is still part of the standard repertoire, not only in France. We hope that our arrangement of the violin sonata for flute, based on the first edition, will satisfy the desire to play a larger work by this master. A few transpositions to the octaves were necessary. Chords and pizzicatos were adapted to the flute – in fact, you will often completely forget that this sonata was not originally written for the flute.
