Description
Wilhelm Petersen (1890-1957) wrote three string quartets: op. 8 (1923), op. 10 (1923/24) and op. 49 (1947/48). The first two were written in his radically expressive period. Since 1925 Petersen came back to a more mellow tonal language, always on the research of an “expression of the whole human being”. Accordingly he revised the String Quartet No. 2 in 1934 when it was first berformed by the Greif-Quartett in Frankfurt/Main, Germany. This edition of the String Quartet op. 10 is the first printed version of the work, based on the revised edition of 1934.
