Description
The original instrumentation of this composition still remains in the dark as even the first copies did not have a definite instrumentation. The substance of this music, however, won early recognition and soon after, editions and arrangements were published. The suite was first published in the form of a piano work in 1881. Arrangements for string instruments and/or chamber orchestra followed. Diethard Hellmann’s edition is not a scientific publication but rather intended for practising music.
