Description
Hanson’s final symphony is subtitled A Sea Symphony and, as with Vaughan Williams’ first, uses texts by Walt Whitman of a sea-going theme. Symphony No. 7 was commissioned to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Interlochen in 1977, and is dedicated to Interlochen’s founder, Joseph Maddy. Originally written for chorus and orchestra, Symphony No. 7 is also available for chorus and wind ensemble. All performance materials are available on a rental basis.
