Description
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s (1756-1791) single setting of the Latin Christian hymn Te Deum was likely completed and first performed in 1769. All of the winds/brass, timpani, and the violas are not included in the score, suggesting that they are optional, although Mozart’s manuscript being lost makes it more difficult to determine his intent. While the very earliest parts include two clarini (high trumpets) in addition to the two C trumpet parts, those clarini parts are played by oboes in this edition. Three trombones are also listed, but those parts appear to be missing. This piano reduction is by F.X. Gleichauf.
