Description
Searching for an instrument which should fulfill the need for “deep, powerful and at the same time sonorous flute tones”, the ingenious flute maker Theobald Böhm created the first alto flute in 1858. Literature was needed for the new instrument, and therefore Böhm arranged the pieces mentioned above (originally, the Rossini pieces are meant for 2 voices and piano, Weber op. 3 was written for piano for four hands). Alternatively, the alto flute part can also be played by the violin, English horn or clarinet. The corresponding parts are also included.
