Description
The music by the Russian-Swiss composer Paul Juon (1872-1940) fascinates by unusual rhythms and rousing melodies full of folk echoes. During his lifetime, Paul Juon was the most famous composer of his generation. His oeuvre includes more than 100 works, including many pieces of chamber music. The Trio, Opus 17 in A minor is the first of six piano trios that Juon wrote in the years between 1901 and 1932. It is an extremely appealing piece, which is also well suited to introduce that late Romantic but personal characteristic style by Paul Juon back into the concert repertoire.
