Description
In his time, Raphael Dressler must have been a flutist of such renown that his Flute Tutor op. 68 was published nearly simultaneously by several publishers in London, Bonn and New York in 1827/28. His compositions were mainly written for and played by the flute. His “Variations sur un th?me hongré”, re-released here for the first time, reflect the interest in Hungarian music kindled around 1790 which also left its traces in the works of Haydn, Beethoven or Schubert. The theme arranged here is not a particular piece, but rather a traditional dance melody in the Hungarian style.
