Of the violin concertos by Belgian composer and violinist Jean Baptiste Accolay, the first, in A minor, has become a popular audition piece under the title ‘Concertino I’. This single-movement work, also published by the composer with a string accompaniment, is appealing and effective but not too difficult. As a ‘student concerto’ it has established itself in secondary-school teaching as well as in international competitions such as ‘Jugend Musiziert’ in Germany. Edition for violin and piano.
