Description
Percy Wenrich (1880-1952), composer of ragtime and popular music in the early 20th Century, was born in Joplin, Missouri. And while he studied in Chicago and later moved to Tin Pan Alley in New York to work as a composer, music retains a midwestern flavor. He wrote WHEN YOU WORE A TULIP AND I WORE A BIG RED ROSE for his wife, vaudeville performer Dolly Connolly, with lyrics by Jack Mahoney. This orchestration is by Timothy Broege.
