‘Ancient Voices of Children’ dates from 1970 and is one of several works of Crumb’s setting the poetry of Federico Garcia Lorca. “Lorca”, says Crumb, “is concerned with the most primary things: life, death, love, the smell of the earth, the sounds of the wind and sea.” This large-size Edition Peters score offers a beautiful example of Crumb’s famous musical calligraphy and unusual notation. Scored for Soprano, Boy Soprano, Oboe, Mandolin, Harp, Piano and Percussionists, multiple scores are required for performance.
