Smith’s setting of the Ave Maria for two-part women’s chorus was premiered in March 2016 at the Camerata Musicale Sulmonese in Italy. The festival honored the “living Italian composer”* with a concert of his chamber and choral works, including the Ave Maria. The brief, two-minute work is dedicated to the Coro Sine Nomine di Teramo, who sang the premiere performance. (*Smith holds dual citizenship.)
