Description
The only concerto written by Alexander Scriabin (1871-1915), the CONCERTO FOR PIANO in F-sharp minor, Op. 20, stands apart from other great piano concertos of the Romantic era for its introspection and refinement. Under the influence of Chopin at the age of 24, Scriabin only completed it after persistent pressure from his publisher Belyayev. Rimsky-Korsakov and Lyadov assisted him with the orchestration. The work premiered on October 23, 1897 in Odessa with the composer performing the solo part under the baton of Vasily Safonov.
