Description
Originally planned as the slow movement of a Cello Sonata, Faur� composed his melancholy El�gie in 1880. The Sicillienne started life as an orchestral work in 1893 and was arranged by Faur� for cello and piano in 1898 before finding its place as part of his famous incidental music to Maurice Maeterlinck’s playPell�as et M�lisande. This Urtext edition by leading French music scholar Roy Howat contains a preface, commentary and exemplary presentation of the score. Includes piano accompaniment and separate cello part.
