Gloria in excelsis, for SSAATB a cappella is a sacred motet by Thomas Weelkes, and is arranged and edited by James Rodde for the 2016 Texas All-State choir. Weelkes, known for his vast output of madrigals and anthems, uses both Latin and English texts in this choral gem from the Renaissance. Both polyphonic and highly imitative, Gloria in excelsis affords opportunities to showcase female voices in any advanced high school or collegiate ensemble. Appropriate for all concert or festival programs.
